Nails- The Great Manicure!

NAILS

You would be amazed at how much time I spent on deciding what to write for my first post. So, I decided to write on what I did last night, nails! I am going to give you the tutorial for how to have a great manicure. I am actually going to do two, the first one being the manicure that you would spend more time on, and the second being the one that you can do quickly, but it still look nice.

Here is a manicure no-no:

The one that takes longer-
Painting your nails and doing little designs are great, and very feminine, but it can be taken to an extreme. That happens when you mix 10 different colors, add glitter, some gem stones, and acrylic nails. The result- your real nails are RUINED! I suggest doing a simple design, like polka dots, or a 1-stripe, no matter what you do, remember that your nails will have to endure your daily lives. If your like me and have to do the dishes, bedazzled nails won't stand a chance. So, here is the tutorial for an amazing manicure that will actually survive your daily lives.

Step 1-
You need to soak those pinkies! Warm water with a drop of body wash is perfect. You don't want it boiling, but you don't want it cold. A usual water faucet's hottest should be the appropriate temperature (if you have the boiling water setting, DO NOT use it. It could burn you badly). Soak them for about 10 minutes.

Tip- Make sure to wash your hands before. It can make a whole world's difference on your manicure's endurance.

Step 2-
Clean out underneath your nails and push back cuticles. I use the tool used for cuticles, but mine is rounded. Be careful so that you don't cut underneath your nails. Then, push back your cuticles. Make sure to be gentle, because you can push them back to much. It is optional, but I suggest it. You can get the tool in your basic Dollar Store Nail Kit (look at the back on what it includes).

Step 3-
File your nails. Round your nails, don't grind them. Don't go back and forth, but gently curve your nail with the file. The files don't have to be fancy. I just got mine at the Dollar Store.

Step 4-
You are ready to begin the actual painting! You need a strong base coat for this. Put on the base coat, and when your done doing the surface, curve the tips of your nails. It helps make your manicure last.

Step 5-
I always apply lotion, after I open the nail polish of course! Make sure the base coat is dry. First, make sure your not going to douse your nail. You should be able to see mostly black, not color. Do one gentle brush in the middle, then one on either side. Let dry.

Step 6-
Just do the fifth step again, another layer. If you want, you can do a third. Especially if the polish is sheer.

Step 7-
Let your nails dry a bit, and do a top coat.

Step 8-
PLEASE OH PLEASE stay still so your nails don't get messed up. I have ruined oh so many manicures because I broke the golden rule. Also, don't go to bed right away, it can REALLY mess up your nails.

Step 9-
If you want to add a design, wait until all of your nail is dry and then do it. Don't press hard. After that, (make sure its dry), add a top coat again.

The one that takes less time-

Step 1-
Wash your hands, then apply your base coat.

Step 2-
Apply one layer of color.

Step 3-
Apply a second layer of color.

Step 4-
Do a top coat, then let dry.

Additional-
If you are really in a rush, and want to do a dark or light color, do a base coat, then just one layer. Add a polish that makes it dry fast.

Well, I hope you loved the manicure tutorials. By the way, these really aren't hard. I am thinking about doing a nail quiz so you can know your nail color, what do you think?
Ta-Ta for now!
